Painted tissue on canvas
This piece was inspired by an evening walk along Siesta Key Beach in Florida, when the sun sat low over the water and the shoreline reflected soft, shifting color. Two girls stand at the edge of the Gulf, pausing between movement and stillness. A bright green float catches the last light of day, glowing against the cooler blues and purples of water and sky.
The artwork is created from hand-painted tissue paper that was torn, layered, and collaged onto canvas. Each fragment holds visible brushstrokes and texture, allowing light and movement to emerge through layering rather than detail. The reflective surface of the water and the torn edges of paper echo the rhythm of waves and the fleeting nature of evening light.
This collage is about childhood, presence, and the small moments that linger—those quiet pauses when play slows, the day softens, and the ordinary feels luminous. It invites the viewer to remember the sensation of warm light, shallow water, and the simple joy of being fully in a moment.
