Secret Keepers was painted from memory after encountering a stand of Japanese maple trees in Connecticut, glowing with gold light and standing unusually close together. Their twisting, knotted branches leaned inward, forming a sheltered space—part threshold, part refuge. It felt like stumbling upon a quiet place meant to be approached slowly.

What drew me in was their sense of age and intimacy. These trees felt ancient and expressive, quietly alive, as though they were holding stories of their own—or waiting to receive new ones.
